Jobs in Oman for Pakistanis should be offered by a named employer and backed by a visa you can see on the Royal Oman Police side. The Ministry of Labour is the labour authority. An agent in Pakistan is optional, and if you use one they need a Bureau of Emigration licence. Apna Ghar will not invent an average Omani salary. Compare the written basic wage, the allowances, and the housing. An advert that says “good salary” is not a contract, any more than a Dubai classified is a MOHRE contract. The paper you sign is the offer. The poster is an invitation to ask.
How to apply
- Ask for the job title, the city, the wage in rials, the hours and the housing in writing, with basic salary separated from allowances.
- Check the visa route in Oman visa for Pakistanis. Do not buy a ticket until the Police screen shows your name.
- Put the basic wage in the salary converter with a realistic rent if housing is not provided. Use OMR to PKR as a reference only.
- Complete the Protector step for employment, and check any promoter on beoe.gov.pk first. See the OEP guide.
- Use the Gulf CV format so the certificate dates are easy to read. Do not invent dates.
- Attest only the certificates the employer or the ministry asked for. Keep the originals.
- If a medical is required through Wafid, book the slip yourself. The centre is the one on the slip.
- Refuse a fee before a file number exists. A real employer does not need your cash deposit.
How to read the wage
Write four lines before you accept: basic salary, allowances, housing, and overtime. A total package hides which part is basic. That split matters when you ask what will actually be paid into the account every month, and it matters if an allowance is only paid when you are on a particular site. Ask who pays the visa and the ticket. Ask whether a trade test is required and where it is held. The test should be at the employer or an authorised centre. A shop selling “Oman certificates” is not the ministry.
Is Oman a better salary than the UAE? Only your two written offers can answer that, after rent. Currency names are not a comparison. Run both basics through the salary converter and write the rent next to each. A staff room in one country against a paid flat in the other can reverse the result. Warning signs and the Pakistan side
A fee first, a free email address, and no company phone number are enough to stop. So is a visit visa sold as a work visa, and a sponsor name that does not match the company that interviewed you. Working on the wrong status is a bad start even if the supervisor is friendly. Check the purpose on the Royal Oman Police side. If you are leaving Pakistan for employment, the Protector registration still applies, whether or not an agent is involved. Direct hire is not an exemption you invent. Read the Bureau’s instructions.
If you have paid and the file is fiction, keep the receipt, the chat and the shop address. Complain to the Bureau of Emigration when a promoter is involved, and to the FIA when the conduct is deception. The steps are in how to report visa fraud. After you accept a real offer, ask who meets you, which airport, and how the first month’s wage will be paid if the bank account is not open yet. Ask whether overtime is a written rate or a hope, and whether the site is in Muscat or hours away from it. A camp job with housing is not a city job without housing, even when the basic wage looks similar on paper. Keep copies of the contract in your own bag. Your passport should return to you once the residence step that needed it is finished. If the employer will not say when, do not treat that silence as normal.
