Jobs in Dubai for Pakistanis are real, and so are the fake adverts wrapped around them. The honest search starts where you can name the employer: the company’s own site, a recruiter who answers from that company’s domain, or a board posting that links back to the company. It does not start with a fee. Apna Ghar will not print an average Dubai salary, because a Facebook number is not a statistic and it is not your contract. The number that matters is the basic wage on the employment contract the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation will recognise, after you have separated housing, transport and commission.
Where to look and how to apply
Use company career pages and well-known boards as a start, then leave the advert behind. An advertisement is not a MOHRE contract. The offer is only serious when the company name matches a licence you can ask about, and when the employer, not a shop in Pakistan, is the one who will open the work permit. From Pakistan, the safe sequence is the one in genuine Dubai jobs from Pakistan: a real offer, a work permit from the employer, an entry permit you can check, and only then the flight. You still clear the Protector of Emigrants if you are leaving for employment. A promoter, if you use one, must be on the Bureau of Emigration list.
- Apply where the company’s name is visible, and keep the job title they advertised next to the job title on the offer. If those two titles describe different work, ask before you accept.
- Read basic salary, housing, transport, food and overtime or commission as separate lines. Put only the basic into the salary converter.
- Ask who pays the visa, the ticket, and medical insurance. A “free visa” that you later repay out of wages is a debt, not a gift.
- A driver, a nurse, an electrician and a software job are not one market. If you drive, read driver jobs. If you are in a trade, read electrician jobs.
- Use a plain CV. The headings in the Gulf CV format are enough. Do not buy a designed CV from the same person who is charging a placement fee.
- Walk-in interviews still happen. Go to the address on the company’s own advert. Do not pay an entrance fee, and do not hand over your passport “for the file” at a hotel lobby.
- Check the visa later on the official UAE channels described in how to check a UAE visa. A PDF is not the status.
- If the story starts with a fee, leave. Read fake Dubai offers before you send another transfer.
How to read the contract, not the advert
MOHRE is the UAE labour door. The contract it holds is the one that should state your basic wage. Recruitment ads, WhatsApp broadcasts and “urgent requirement” posters are invitations to apply. They are not that contract. When a real offer arrives, write down four lines: basic salary, allowances, hours, and who provides housing. Gratuity conversations use basic wage. The UAE gratuity guide and the gratuity calculator are there so you can see why a low basic and a high allowance is a different deal from the same total written as basic. Ask what happens in the probation period, who holds the passport, and whether overtime is paid or “included”. Included is not a number.
Rent decides whether a wage is livable. A basic salary that looks fine in a staff room can be a crisis if you must rent in the open market. Read the cost of living notes as a list of questions, not as a price guarantee. Convert dirhams with AED to PKR when you talk to family, and remember the mid-market rate is not the rate you will get at a shop. Do not accept a job because the rupee figure in the agent’s voice note was large. Accept it because the basic wage, the housing and the visa are written down and the company exists.
What to refuse
Refuse a placement fee into a personal account. Refuse a security deposit. Refuse to start work on a visit visa. Refuse a contract in a language you cannot read unless a translation you trust is attached and the Arabic or the MOHRE version is the one you were told matches it. Refuse to resign in Pakistan before the entry permit is visible on an official screen. Refuse an agent who is not on the Bureau list. None of these refusals costs you a real job. A real employer still wants you next week. A fake file needs your money today.
After you arrive, finish the medical, the Emirates ID and the labour contract, and keep copies. Your passport is yours. If the company holds it for a visa step, take a receipt and a date. If the work is not the work in the contract, speak to the company in writing first and use MOHRE if the written contract is being ignored. Do not pay a camp broker to “move your visa”. Transfers, where they exist, are official steps. They are not products sold in a parking lot.
Fees, fines and salary thresholds change. If a number is not written on the official page linked below, treat a WhatsApp figure as unchecked.
