Electrician jobs in the Gulf are trade jobs. Employers ask for certificates you can defend, sometimes a skill test, and a contract with a basic wage written separately from allowances. You should not start work on a visit visa, and you should not buy a “Gulf certificate” from a shop that is not the institute that taught you. Apna Ghar will not invent an average electrician salary for Dubai, Riyadh, Doha or Kuwait. The only wage you can check is the one on the contract for the country you are actually offered. An advert is not that contract. In the UAE it is not a MOHRE contract. In other Gulf states it is not the labour contract either.
Papers, tests and the contract
Carry the original trade certificate and the experience letters you can stand behind in an interview. If a date is wrong, fix the CV. Do not stretch a helper’s year into a foreman’s year. Ask whether that country wants the certificate attested, and attest through the channel the employer or the embassy checklist names. A stall that sells stamps without a receipt is how files fail later. A skill test, if there is one, should be at the employer or an authorised centre. Pay the centre’s official fee if there is one, on their receipt. Do not pay a middleman who says he can sit the practical for you.
- Read basic salary, housing, food, site allowance and overtime as separate lines. Budget on the basic wage.
- Ask the hours, the day off, and whether overtime has a rate or is a favour. Electricity plus fatigue is how people get hurt.
- Ask who supplies tools and personal protective equipment, and who replaces them when they fail. “Bring your own” should be written down.
- Ask who pays the visa, the ticket and the medical. A deduction spread over six months is still your money.
- Country hiring notes differ. Start with Dubai, Qatar or Kuwait, and the Saudi notes if that is the offer.
- Use the CV format. Put the licence or certificate number and the institute, not a paragraph about passion.
- If you leave Pakistan for employment, clear the Protector. See the Protector guide. Check any agent on beoe.gov.pk first.
- Put the basic wage in the salary converter. Convert the currency you were actually offered, not a neighbouring one.
Ads are not MOHRE contracts
A yard banner, a Facebook post and a voice note can all say “electrician, family visa, high salary”. None of those sentences is a contract. Where the job is in the UAE, the document that matters is the employment contract MOHRE’s rules are about: basic wage, job title, employer name. Ask to see that paper, or the offer that will become that paper, before you resign. If the basic wage is lower than the advert, the advert was bait. Where the job is in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman or Bahrain, the same test applies with that country’s labour contract. The sponsor’s name should match the company that will pay you. A supply company on the visa and a different brand on the helmet is something you should understand before you fly, not after the first argument about wages.
Helper, electrician and foreman are different grades. A contract that says helper while the agent said electrician is a different salary and a different life. Do not accept “we will change the designation after probation” unless the change is written with the new wage. Probation is when it is easiest to remove you, not when it is easiest for you to renegotiate. Read overtime and rest breaks. A site that treats breaks as optional is a site that will treat lock-out and isolation as optional too. You are allowed to stop a job that is unsafe. Tell the supervisor in words they cannot later deny, and if the written contract is being ignored, the labour door is MOHRE in the UAE and the Ministry of Human Resources in Saudi Arabia. Do not trade a lock-out for a Friday’s overtime.
Fees, NOCs and fake papers
Do not pay for a promised no-objection certificate. Transfers and NOCs, where the host country allows them, are official steps, not products. Do not pay for a visa file before a number exists on that country’s enquiry. Do not buy experience letters. A forged certificate fails at attestation or at the test, and it can finish the visa. If a Pakistani promoter is recruiting you, the licence check is the OEP guide. If they have already taken money for a job that does not exist, keep the evidence and use the complaint guide. The next instalment is not a strategy.
Fees, fines and salary thresholds change. If a number is not written on the official page linked below, treat a WhatsApp figure as unchecked.
