A CV for Gulf jobs should be one or two pages, easy to skim, and boring in a good way. Employers look for your trade, your dates, your passport nationality and whether you are already in the country. They do not need a paragraph about your passion, a coloured sidebar, or a QR code that opens your Instagram. Apna Ghar’s format below is a heading template you can copy into a document tonight. It is not a design. It will not get you a visa. It will stop a busy recruiter guessing which Muhammad you are and which licence you hold.
Copy these headings, in this order
Use the headings as the skeleton. Under each one, write facts you can prove with a certificate, a passport or an experience letter. If a heading does not apply, write “None” rather than deleting the line and leaving the reader unsure. Do not invent dates. A fake certificate is how a real offer dies at attestation or at the medical. When the CV is true, apply through the Dubai jobs notes or the Saudi jobs notes, and check any Pakistani promoter with the OEP guide.
- Heading: Full name, exactly as in the passport, with the father’s name if the passport shows it.
- Heading: Mobile number with country code, and one email address you actually open.
- Heading: Current city and country. Do not write a full street address on the CV.
- Heading: Nationality, and date of birth as DD Month YYYY.
- Heading: Passport number and expiry date. Renew the passport before you apply if it is close to expiry. Do not hide a short expiry.
- Heading: Visa status. Either “In Pakistan, ready to travel” or the Gulf country, visa type and expiry if you already hold one. Do not write “visit visa, can start work”.
- Heading: Target job title, one line. Example: Electrician, industrial maintenance, 8 years. Not a list of six trades.
- Heading: Professional summary, two lines only. Trade, years, and the kind of site. No adjectives.
- Heading: Work experience, newest job first. For each job: company name, country, city, month and year started, month and year ended, job title, and three duties you really did.
- Heading: Certificates and licences. Institute, country, year, and the certificate or licence number if it has one.
- Heading: Languages, with honest levels. “Basic Arabic” is allowed. “Fluent” is not, if you are not.
- Heading: Driving licence, only if you hold one, with the class and the country. If you do not, write “None”.
What a filled heading looks like
A work block is not a story. “ABC Contracting, Doha, Qatar. March 2019 to January 2024. Electrician. Maintained panel boards on a residential site. Worked under a site engineer. Did not supervise a crew.” That is enough. The false version adds “team leader” because it sounds better. The test later asks who signed the experience letter. If the letter says electrician, the CV says electrician. Match them. A gap between jobs can be written as “In Pakistan, between contracts, June 2024 to August 2025.” A gap you hide looks like a date you changed.
A photo is commonly expected in private-sector Gulf hiring. Use a plain, recent photograph, alone, with a light background. It is a habit of that market, not a law this site is declaring, and it is not a reason to pay a studio connected to a recruitment shop. Do not put the photo on the passport page you then photocopy into the same file in a way that hides the expiry. The photo belongs in the corner of the CV. The passport copy, when a form asks for it, is a separate scan. Expected salary stays off the CV unless the form has a box. If you write a number, you may be bargaining against yourself before you know whether housing is included. Wait until you can see basic wage and allowances as separate lines, then use the salary converter.
How to send it, and what not to add
Save one PDF with your name in the file name. Send it from your own email. Do not let an agent merge it with five other people’s papers into one WhatsApp album. Do not include your family’s CNIC numbers, your bank account, or a scan of every certificate on the first email. Certificates go when a real employer asks. Keep the originals at home until an official step needs them, and then take a receipt. One page is enough early in a trade. Two pages is enough when the jobs are real. Four pages means you have pasted duties three times.
Change the target job title when you apply for a different role. Do not keep “driver / electrician / storekeeper” on one line because you need the money. Recruiters read that as no trade. You can keep the same experience section if the facts are true. You should not create a second CV with different dates for a second country. People compare. The Bureau of Emigration file, if you later go through a promoter, should match this CV. A mismatch is a gift to the person who wants to say you lied. Read fake Dubai offers before you email the PDF to a stranger who asked for a fee in the same message.
